It’s my great pleasure to recommend Prof. Xia’s research monograph entitled “Current Research in Acupuncture ” to general readers. This book broadly reviews recent advances in the field of acupuncture research. Acupuncture has been used in China for thousands of years as part of the traditional Chinese medicine, and now has spread across different regions of the world. Acupuncture can trigger a signal that gets transmitted through the body and elicits a biological effect. Therefore, we can expect a biological/medical effect being elicited by a mechanical and/or an electrical stimulation of various acupoints over our body. In a modern scientific perspective, this book was written by over 60 scientists and clinicians worldwide. It explores acupuncture therapy and its mechanisms with advanced technologies. This book provides very interesting, important and updated knowledge on acupuncture research to both clinical physicians and scientific researchers. In my opinion, this book is of great value in medicine and science and marks a new height in acupuncture research.
